A BIT OF HISTORY

APPROACH & ART CONCEPT

These are the point we want to highlight doing this model:

  • The nose of the Land Wasser should looks like a fish, taking inspiration from the notorious Flying Tiger Hawk we designed this:

  • The central spot is great enough to host a led, it is located in the center just above the cabin. We will fix it looking to the rear.
  • The crane in this model come disassembled and mounted in rest position. we want to assemble it and fixing in an operation position. Since there is no picture of the Land Wasser with the crane in working position we just guess we can fix it close to the rear.
  • The middle windlass will be decorated with string to simulate rope in working position.
  • The fore winch to be substituted with and hand made one.
  • Color schema should be either blue or green. Propeller bronze or steal color.

Best out of the web here.

STEP.1 - PREPARATION

Spray a neutral color (white) assemble pieces and sand down where needed. When assembling take care there are no overlapping piece so that the color can flow everywhere.

Mask where you don't want to paint with Air Brush.

The border of the hatches have been painted in a metallic color. During air brushing the hatch will be closed so to leave only the inner border in a different color.

STEP.2 - AIRBRUSH AND DETAILS

Partially assemble the top hull and airbrush with a basic color (Green). With a standard brush start with basic effect (Highlight and shadows). assemble and paint detailed components.

Still few details to be completed.

STEP.3 - WHEELS AND MECHANICS

Mechanics are very complex to be assembled, just to have an idea each set of damper (two wheels pair) is composed by 4 pieces.

A BIT OF HISTORY
The JagdPanzer [JgPz] namely tank hunter belongs to the wide category of tanks know as Tank Destroyer.

These tanks show a sharp silhouette, quite often the gun is almost fixed with a limited degrees of maneuverability.

The 38(t) HETZER or Sd.Kfz 138/2 is one of the most notorious Light Tank Destroyer of the WW II.

THE MODEL KIT
Details of the Model kit are very good. All hatches come as single components. The trucks need to be assembled and cemented on the wheels. There is a metal grid too. The kit comes with tow crew members with a very good level of details.
As usual here's box

For frame sets follow this link.

Here's instruction see link.

WEEK.48 (23 to 29 November)

Finally we start to paint and assemble the Jagdpanzer hull and wheels.

The Jagdpanzer wheel' set  stand on a total 4 wheels plus one sprocket and one idler per side.

The 4 wheels are mounted in couple on a support balanced by one leaf spring per each couple, while sprocket and idler are mounted on single hubs.

IMPORTANT
When assembling tracks and wheels do not cement the sprocket wheels.

WEEK.49 (30 November to 06 December)

Today we proceeded coloring the tracks than we inserted the wheels on the relevant hubs and now is time to assemble the tracks.

Each track (belt) is make upon 29 pieces. First color the tracks attached to the frame.

In a second step disconnect the tracks from the frame and assemble them.

IMPORTANT
Now you can cement the sprocket wheels and the relevant hub cover.
